In I John there is proof that Jesus Christ is the one Lord God Almighty (Deut. 6:4, Luke 2:11)

I John 1:1-2

We have seen and touched God. Verse 1. That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2. (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us.) (John 14:9).

Jesus Christ is the Word, therefore, Jesus Christ is God (John 1:1). Thus we have seen God in the flesh. We have touched, walked and talked with God (John 1:10). Jesus is the everlasting Father and eternal life (Isaiah 9:6) and he was manifested, made known-became flesh, for our salvation (John 1:14, I Timothy 3:16). And if you deny that Jesus is the Christ then you are an antichrist.

I John 2:22-23

If you deny that Jesus is the Christ then you are antichrist.

I John 2:22. Translation: Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is God? He is an antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son (Isaiah 9:6). If you deny that Jesus is God, the Christ, then you deny the Father and the Son. Why? Because Jesus Christ is the Father and the Son.

I John 2:23. Translation: Whosoever denieth that the Son is God, the same hath not the Father: but he that Acknowledgeth the “Son is God” has the Father also (Hebrews 1:8). Why? Because the Son is also the Father (Isaiah 9:6, John 14:9, Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9). The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil.

I John 3:8

The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Translation:  God was manifested as the Son of God to shed his blood for the remissions of the sins of mankind so that God himself through his fleshly manifestation of the Son, could destroy the works of the devil. If you want to know who Jesus is, the Bible tell us that God laid down his life for us. Listen, this is very simple. Jesus Christ laid down his life for us, therefore Jesus Christ is the God who laid down his life for us (Acts 20:28).

I John 3:16

God laid down is life for us. “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”

Now we know that God can’t die in his Spirit form but we do know that the manifested flesh of God died. This scripture is saying that God laid down his life for us. God has, on numerous occasions, explained and showed us the mystery of the gospel and the knowledge of Christ. He has told us he is One and he has shown us that Jesus Christ is a different manifestation of himself (John 1:1, 14, I Timothy 3:16). Why is this so hard to understand? There is no prophecy of scripture that is of any private interpretation (II Peter 1:20). God, himself, in his flesh, died for us. Out of ignorance there are many false prophets in the world who would seek to deceive us.

I John 4:1-3, 14, 15

There are many false prophets in the World

Verse 1. Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because man false prophets are gone out into the world.

Note: We are to try the spirits to see whether they are of God. If they don’t know that Jesus is the Christ, you should try them. See if they understand the true gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Verse 2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: Insert (God) after Jesus Christ to bring clarity

Verse 3. And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of an-ti-christ, whereof ye have heard that it should come: and even now already is it in the world. Insert (God) after Jesus Christ to bring clarity.

Note: Therefore, you will know that spirit because if that spirit doesn’t believe that Jesus is the true God who came in the flesh, he is an antichrist (I John 5:20, I John 2:21-23).

Verse 14. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

Verse 15. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

Note: If we confess that Jesus is the Son of God, the fleshly manifestation of God, we are of God. The only way we can say that Jesus is the Son, the manifestation of God, is if we have the Holy Spirit. Revelation comes by the Spirit of God. The antichrist is now in the earth because this spirit denies that Jesus Christ is the one Lord God of heaven and earth. This antichrist spirit will tell you not to believe God’s Word and the oneness of God’s nature (Deuteronomy 6:4, Luke 2:11). Watch for him. You will see the spirit of the antichrist in your lifetime. He will deny that Jesus is God and he will try to prove it through philosophy and deceit (Colossians 2:8). Some will try to prove there are 3 persons that bear witness in the Godhead by using I John 5:7-8.

I John 5:7-8

There are three that bear witness in heaven. I would like to address the concept of three concerning the scriptures. When God speaks of three in heaven, he will always say these three are the same (One). There is only one God who had three manifestations, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, for the salvation of man. Therefore, God said, that there are three that bear record in heaven. God has a record based on his heavenly Spirit as the Father. Jesus Christ has a record concerning his death burial and resurrection and Jesus has a record as the manifested Word of God. The Holy Ghost has a record concerning the indwelling Spirit of the saints of God.

These three manifestations that bear record in heaven is one God. God is not three different persons. Verse 8. This verse has gotten Christian followers in trouble because they mixed verse 7 and verse 8 to try to prove a point. The point that they try to prove is that God is agreeing with some other persons by sayings these three persons agree in one. This type statement as it relates to God is ludicrous. Let’s take a look at the mystery.

In verse 8, it says, And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. God doesn’t agree with any other God. God is sovereign, he doesn’t consult or agree in any form with any other God. This verse is referring to the salvation of man. To understand this concept, let’s go to Acts 2:38.

“Then Peter said unto them, repent, and be baptized (the water) every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ (the blood) for the remissions of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” (the Spirit). These three agree in one baptism which has its foundation in Jesus name (John 3:5).

This scripture gives us the instructions for salvation (How to be born again). This scripture is also the “keys of the kingdom of heaven” that Peter used to open the door to the church. Acts 2:38 confirms verse 8.

Let’s look at it in a more condensed form. This scripture has the three witnesses that are in the earth and they are the three that agree in one name for the salvation of man.

1. The Spirit – The Spirit of Christ which dwells in every believer (Jesus Christ)

2. The Water – This is the water baptism in Jesus name (Jesus Christ)

3. The blood – The blood of Jesus Christ which remits the sins of mankind (Jesus Christ).

These three agree in one name and is the only method whereby man must be saved. There is only one way to salvation and its through and by the name of Jesus Christ. These three witnesses, in a spiritual and natural sense, will testify whether we have followed and obeyed the word of God.

Baptism in Jesus name saves because it gives us a good conscience toward God. How? Because the Spirit, water, and the blood is a witness in heaven that we have followed the gospel of Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38 (Mark 16:16, I Peter 3:21, II Thessalonians 1:7-8).

Again, these three agree in one name – Jesus Christ, who is the rock of our salvation. Why is this so hard to understand? Jesus is the true God and we are saved by the power of his name.

I John 5:20

Jesus is the True God. There are a number of scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments that make direct statements that Jesus is the Almighty. This scripture is one of them. Jesus Christ is the true God of heaven and earth, the creator of all things whether they be thrones, dominions, principalities or powers whether they be visible or invisible (Colossians 1:14-19). This scripture tells us directly that Jesus Christ is the only true God, and eternal life. For there is no other name under heaven given to man whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

There is no question, based on this scripture and others that Jesus Christ is not only the Son, Jesus Christ is the one and only true God of heaven and earth. This verifies John 1:1, 10, 14, Hebrews 1:1-3, 8, I Timothy 3:16, and Revelation 1:8, 11, 22:13. In II John, God continues to expound on the merits of the doctrine of Jesus Christ as the one and only true God.
