Proof in Matthew that Jesus Christ is the one and only Lord God Almighty (Duteronomy 6:4, Luke 2:11)

God has told us on many ocassions that He is one Lord and that He would be born as a man (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 9:6)  However in these last days man is trying to prove God wrong.  Preachers, teachers and evangelists want to tell God and the believers in Christ, that God is three persons when God has said I'm one God in one person - Christ Jesus (Colossians 2:8-9)

God never told us He is three persons because God doesn't know of any other persons in His Godhead other than Himself. (Isaiah 44:8).  Three persons of God is an assumption made by man from scriptures in New Testament which they don't understand (Colossians 2:8-12).  God is one person and He was manifested as a man in one person - Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 1:3, 8,  II Corinthians 5:19, I Timothy 3:16, 1 John 1:1-2, Revelation 1;8).  In Matthew we have proof that "Jesus Christ is the one and only Lord God Almighty"

Matthew 1:18-23

According to Matthew, the name of Jesus means he is God. In this book, we understand that Jesus is God through the meaning of his name, Emmanuel. God with us. This scripture is self-explanatory and shows without question that Jesus is God manifested in the flesh. I Timothy 3:16 gives us a clear understanding of this scripture in Matthew by letting us see that Jesus is Emmanuel the manifestation of God himself. There is only one God and Jesus is a manifestation of that God. Let’s see what Isaiah meant when he foretold the coming of God.

Matthew 3:3

Isaiah foretold the coming of God. John is the voice crying in the wilderness according to the prophecy of Esaias (Isaiah). This is John’s declaration that Jesus is the Lord and God. In Isaiah 40:3, we find out that Jesus is the manifestation of God whom Isaiah prophesied would come to earth in the flesh. This also verifies John 1:1-14 and I Timothy 3:16. Again, let’s look at the scripture in Isaiah. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. If you will notice in Isaiah he says, “make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”

In Matthew 3:3, John says “Prepare ye the way of the Lord. Therefore, this same God in the Old Testament is the same Lord in the New Testament. Jesus is the one Lord who is God. Therefore, we can conclude that Jesus is both Lord and God. Not three personalities in one God. This is one personality, one Lord, and one God (Ephesians 4:5, John 20:28). God gave us an opportunity to see his manifestations for the salvation at the miraculous baptism of Jesus.

Matthew 3:13-17

The miraculous baptism of Jesus. During the baptism of Jesus we find that God is saying, in so many words, he is in Jesus. 17th Verse. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Jesus can say that my Father and I are one, meaning the same because God is in Jesus Christ based on John 1:1, 14, 14:8-11, and Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9.

The Spirit and the Flesh is one God. Therefore, Jesus is God, for the Father is in Jesus. This scripture blends with and verifies II Corinthians 5:19. God tells us again that he is in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. In Matthew, we can see the three manifestations of the one God. We see the Holy Spirit represented by a dove, The Son in baptism, and we hear the voice of the Father in his Spirit form. Some might say, you see, there are three persons. This is not true. What you see and hear are three manifestations of the one God.

This demonstration is for John, his disciples and the multitude. This also demonstrates that Jesus and the Father are one (John 10:30, Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9). The purpose is to clarify that Jesus is his Son and he is well please to be in him (II Corinthians 5:19). This is not a demonstration to prove that God is three persons nor three separate personalities.

God is showing us at the baptism of “Christ” that he will operate in three different manifestations for the salvation of man and these three manifestations will be in the body of Christ (Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9). Even though John had already said that Jesus was the Christ, it was important that John verify the Deity of Jesus and see at the baptism that he was the Christ. On another occasion, John verified the Deity of Jesus before his died. It would seem strange that he would ask again if he was the Christ, but John wanted to make sure within himself that his mission had been accomplished. Look at the importance of Matthew 11:3, 5.

Matthew 11: 3, 5

Look at the importance of this scripture. John the Baptist knew that Jesus would be God himself based on the teachings in Isaiah (Isaiah 35:4-6). However, before John died, he wanted to make sure that he did not make a mistake in declaring the coming of God. John knew that Isaiah had said we should make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Our God is Jesus Christ (Isaiah 40:3, Matthew 3:3). Therefore, John the Baptist said in Matthew 11:3, “Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

When Jesus told him that the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, etc., John realized that Isaiah had foretold the things that God would do and John also realized that this was the God that he was looking for. The one God manifested in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16). John realized that the same God who was in the Spirit, is the same God who is now in the flesh. It was extremely important to John that Jesus reveal his true identity, as the Christ, before he died.

Matthew 11: 27-28

Jesus reveals who he is. The revelation of Jesus comes by the Spirit of Christ. Jesus explains to us that He will reveal, the Father. This scripture confirms Paul’s revelation about the mystery and knowledge of Christ. Namely that Jesus is God, “The Christ.” Paul received his revelation of God the Father through Jesus Christ who personally introduced himself to Paul while he was on his way to Damascus.

In Ephesians 3:3-6, 9-11, the revelation of Jesus Christ is revealed by the Spirit of Christ. You will have to follow me on this. Let’s go to Matthew 16:17. Jesus tells Peter that flesh and blood had not revealed that he is the “Christ.” Now we know that a Spirit gave Peter his revelation and that same Spirit gave Paul his revelation. If you have been following the facts as they have unfolded, you will understand that the Spirit of Christ will reveal who the Father is and the Spirit of the Father will reveal who the Son is. The Spirit of the Father is the same Spirit of the Son- Jesus Christ.

Therefore, Jesus is right in both instances. He will reveal the Father and the Father will reveal the Son (Matthew 11:27-28, 16:17). Jesus Christ is the Son and he will reveal the Father to whomsoever he chooses. Therefore, Jesus, as the Son, can explain the mystery to believers.

Matthew 13:11-17

Jesus explains the mystery. Jesus is letting his disciples know that there are things that they would know about the kingdom that others wouldn’t know. One of the mysteries is that the saints knew Jesus was the Christ, but to others, they didn’t know him. They could not understand the oneness of God as it relates to Jesus. Jesus taught the disciples that he is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, “The Christ.” (Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9). In some cases the apostles didn’t understand and Jesus had to make it clear to them using the scriptures of Moses and Isaiah (Exodus 29:46, Isaiah 42:8, 43:11).

Jesus spoke in parables which they didn’t quite understand. They were seeing and not seeing. How does that relate to today? People are reading the Bible and they can see with their eyes that the Bible says Jesus is the only God/Lord/Christ and yet they don’t see it because of unbelief. Even if we told them Jesus is the only God (Lord), they still wouldn’t hear it because they don’t understand (Isaiah 9:6, Revelation 1:8).

People’s hearts are hard and they are tired of hearing that Jesus is God and their eyes are closed to the knowledge and mystery of Christ. They will be converted if they would believe that Jesus is the Almighty God and see in the Bible what God is saying about the Deity and mystery of Christ (II Corinthians 4:3-6).

The prophets wanted to see how God would become flesh but they didn’t get a chance to see it. They would have also wanted to hear the gospel and see how God would save man using the three manifestations of himself. In summary, they didn’t get a chance to see God in the flesh, neither did they get a chance to hear the gospel. However, in the New Testament Peter tells us that Jesus is “the Christ.”

Matthew 16:16

Peter tells us that Jesus is “the Christ,” meaning he is God who has come in the flesh as the Son of God. Jesus wanted Peter to understand who he was so that Peter could relay the salvation message. This is interesting. Peter’s name means rock, some say little rock. Look at this. Jesus name means Rock, some say the big Rock. Think about this. We know that salvation is built on the Rock which is Jesus Christ. When Jesus tells Peter upon this rock I will build my church, it had a double meaning.

The Church will be built on the words (rocks) that Peter (the little rock) would speak which would become the Rock of Salvation which is based on the name of Jesus Christ, “The Rock.” The Rock of salvation is; 1. Repent 2. be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and 3. ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). These are also the keys that opened the door, which is Jesus Christ, to the Church.

The Church will be built on the solid foundation of Jesus name by baptism, which is water and Spirit. The baptism in Jesus name is the Rock of our salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. There is no other way that the foundation is laid outside of the blood of Christ. The baptism in Jesus name gives remission of sin. We are buried with him by baptism (Acts 19:1-5, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:12). Jesus tells us in John 10:1. “Verily, verily, I say unto you. He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. Jesus is the door and you must come in the door by baptism in “Jesus name.” Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

There are some who will try to come up another way by saying, “just confess in your heart the Lord Jesus” and by using the titles of God – Father, Son, and Holy Ghost in baptism (Matthew 28:19). This is not the way. You must use Jesus name in baptism, not his titles.

You must come through the door and use the name of Jesus Christ in repentance and baptism for there is no other name whereby we must be saved. No one comes to the father except through the washing of the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood is applied by baptism for remission of sins. Therefore, you must go through the blood of Christ to come to the Father. I will be coming back to these concepts.

Matthew 16:13-19

I will be coming back to these concepts time and time again and you will see how all these scriptures are synergistic and how they are saying the same thing in a different context. There are three very important points that the Lord related to Peter.

1. Jesus wanted Peter to understand the revelation that he is God, “The Christ.” Jesus knew that no one could get the revelation of who he was unless it came from the Spirit of God. Paul also received the revelation that Jesus was God by the Spirit (Ephesians 3:3-5).

2. Jesus establishes himself as the rock, and he would be the rock upon which the church would be built. Jesus is the God, in Spirit form, who followed the children of Israel in the wilderness. Look at this; who is God, save the Lord, and who is the rock save our God? II Samuel 22:32, 47, I Corinthians 10:4.

I guess you might say, what does this have to do with salvation and baptism? Look at I Corinthians 10:2. The Lord said that the children of Israel passed under the cloud and all passed through the sea were baptized unto Moses. Why were they baptized unto Moses? Because Moses was a type of saviour.

Now, we are to be baptized unto Jesus Christ because he is our Saviour. This establishes the fact that a name is always associated with baptism, not titles. In addition, Jesus lets Peter know that he is God, the rock and the Church would be built upon his name “Jesus Christ.” Jesus Christ is God’s highest name for salvation; for there is no other name whereby we must be saved. There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. Jesus is that one Lord, and the one baptism is in the name of the Rock, Jesus Christ.

These scriptures let us know that Jesus is both Lord and God. And salvation is built on the name of God, Jesus Christ, “The Rock.” Through grace, faith, repentance, baptism and the reception of the Holy Spirit we are saved by Jesus Name.

3. Jesus gives Peter the “keys of the kingdom of heaven.” What Jesus said was that whatever Peter binds on earth, it would be bound in heaven and whatever he loose on earth would be loosed in heaven. This is one of the major highlights of this book, “the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Wouldn’t you think that this act was extremely important and that it might be important to our salvation? We should know what the keys were; and how they were used.

When Peter gave the born again scripture, Acts 2:38, he said that everyone should; 1st key, repent, 2nd key, be baptized in Jesus name, 3rd key, and receive the Holy Spirit. This is the first time Peter used the “keys of the kingdom of heaven” to open the door, Jesus Christ, to the Church. This born again scripture has been bound on earth and is bound in heaven and Peter did not loose it.

All the apostles, preached, taught and baptized in the name of Jesus as spoken by Peter. Why would anyone baptize in titles or any other way not ordained and approved by Jesus Christ nor the apostles?

Preachers are always talking about following leadership and being obedient. Why don’t they follow the leadership of Peter and be obedient by baptizing people in the name of Jesus Christ?

Do they not understand or do they just refuse to obey? It’s so important that we obey the gospel because we will all see Jesus Christ when he comes with his mighty angels and in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (II Thessalonians 1:7-8). When Jesus comes to sit on his throne, unbelievers’ eyes will be opened but it will be too late to say, now I believe.

Matthew 25:31

Jesus will be coming with his angels and he will sit on his throne. Let’s understand that God said, he would not give his glory to another. God is not giving his glory to another (Isaiah 42:8). God is our Saviour (Isaiah 43:3). God is giving the glory to himself. The Lord Jesus Christ is God our Saviour. Only God will be coming to sit on his throne. Jesus is the Son as well as God himself. One throne, One God. Jesus told us that all power is given to him in heaven and earth. That means; the Almighty power of God belongs to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ said he is the Almighty and his Word is true (Revelation 1:8).

Matthew 28:18

Jesus explains that all power is given to me, whether it is in heaven or on earth. The Deity which is the Heavenly Spirit has incorporated all His power into His glorified body. There is no other God other than Jesus Christ. If there were, he would not have any power; for all the power belongs to Jesus Christ. All the fullness of the Godhead is in Jesus. Jesus is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:8-10). God has performed many miracles that has baffled man. However, the miracle in Matthew 28:18 has to be one of the greatest. Let me give you an understanding of the revelation that God has given me. The transformed body of Jesus is the nucleus of all of God’s power. That power and Spirit of God radiates out of his transformed body to include the entire universe. This transformation is not limited by the body. Jesus’ transformed body is the central focus of the power of the Godhead and is the right hand of the power of God.

The statement in the scriptures, “the right hand of God,” means a position of power in the Godhead. In our human understanding of spatial relationships, God is a Spirit and he has no left or right hand. Therefore, this statement means power and that power has no spatial relationship as to where God is. If God fills the universe, then we know that we won’t see a right hand or right side of God because we cannot see the whole universe. Thus we can’t see all of the majesty and power of God except in the face and glorified body of Jesus Christ. This glorified body of Jesus Christ is God – The right hand of power. Only in the natural body of Jesus Christ will we be able to see the right hand of God in a spatial type relationship. However, this is not the meaning nor the concept of the words. How do we know that Jesus is the right hand of power? Because God will only glorify himself and he will not give his power to another (Isaiah 42:8). There is no other god nor person in the Godhead other than God himself. Jesus Christ is the only God and the right hand of the power of God. Therefore, Jesus gave the apostles the great commission to teach the gospel.

Matthew 28:19

Jesus gives the apostles the great commission to go and teach all nations all the things he had taught them because they knew him. The apostles knew that Jesus was God and that he is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Colossians 1:19, 2:8-9). Therefore, they baptized new converts in the name of Jesus Christ. Read the whole book of Acts. The baptism in name of the Lord Jesus is the only method of baptism sanctioned by Paul and the other apostles. Paul said, if anyone, even an angel from heaven teach any other gospel, let him be accursed – Galatians 1:8. Again, one must understand what Jesus said; and the importance of being baptized in Jesus name. There was no question among the apostles what Jesus said. He said they should teach all nations and baptize them in the name of Jesus Christ. This understanding was based on their understanding of the scriptures. Take a look at the following scriptures.

The Name of the Father is Jesus Christ (Isaiah 9:6, John 5:43, 14:9) (Ref: Acts 2:38)

The Name of the Son is Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:21, Philippians 2:6-11) (Ref: Acts 2:38)

The Name of the Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ (John 14:18, 26, Col. 1:27) (Ref: Acts 2:38)

When we take all of these scriptures into consideration, we find that the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost is Jesus Christ. Therefore the apostles baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us that the Father will be glorified in the Son (John 13:31-32). Understanding the meaning of Jesus name and who he was, the apostles baptized all new converts in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s go on to Mark to get a better understanding of how the devils knew Jesus Christ as the one God.
