Can you explain to me three Persons in One God?

There is not one person on this earth nor the new earth to come who will be able to explain three persons in one God. Why? Because God never said it. God said, Hear O Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4). Three persons in one God is a manmade concept first alluded to by a Catholic Bishop by the name of Tertullian (325 A.D.).

In 324-325 A.D., the Roman emperor Constantine had heard that there were disagreements among the Catholic Bishops. Therefore, Constantine needed to get all of the Bishops of his empire together so that they could come to an agreement on Church doctrine.

The Catholic fathers of the early church were invited to come to Nicaea, all expenses paid, by Constantine, to determine which day would be used to celebrate Easter and to determine the true essence of God. Constantine’s main purpose of the council was to get an agreement on the Deity and essence of God the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Constantine’s empire and the Church were inextricably intertwined, therefore, there was a requirement for the bishops to agree on religious principles so that the state could support their agreement. Constantine was not so much concerned about the “Church doctrine;” Constantine was more concerned about an agreement among the bishops and the stability of his empire.

The friction among the Catholic Bishops would affect Constantine’s policies and could bring about rebellion and insurrections among the people. Therefore, the Council was convened to stress to the Bishops that an agreement on doctrine was absolutely necessary.

Under this new doctrine Constantine would decree that all subjects would become Christians and believe in the doctrine that was formulated by these Catholic Bishops. Thus the Trinitarian “doctrine of men was born.” This Trinitarian doctrine was stated in a creed called the “Nicene Creed” 325 A.D.

In 381 A.D., at the Council of Constantinople, the “Nicene Creed,” with a few modifications, was formally adopted as the Trinitarian doctrine of the Christian Church. This Nicene Creed evolved to include parts of the “Athanasian Creed,” which stated that there are three Persons in one God - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This creed was to be taught by all Christian churches worldwide (David K. Bernard, The Oneness of God, pg. 277).

Those who would call themselves Christian and would not adhere to nor support the doctrine of the Trinity would be killed. There was no room for insubordination nor decent from this newly formed Trinitarian Doctrine.

The first major decent from the Catholic Church was started by Martin Luther who started the Protestant movement. However, Martin Luther’s protestation was not concerning the doctrine of the Trinity. Martin Luther protested the fees that were being charged to the people by the Catholic Bishops for spiritual blessings. During Martin’s protest and all during the reformation period, the Trinitarian Doctrine was kept as the official doctrine of the Christian church. Even though the Trinitarian Doctrine is not a doctrine of God and was not mentioned in the Bible, this false doctrine was never formally challenged by any of the Protestant Churches. We know that God is not a Trinity of 3 persons. God is a God of one Person.

God speaks of himself as one Person in Hebrews 1:3. Why? God speaks to us figuratively and symbolically, on more than one occasion, so that we can understand in human terms what God is saying. For example; God’s right hand, after God’s own heart, making the earth his foot stool, etc. Other than Jesus Christ, these terms don’t mean that God literally have these fleshy parts in his Spirit. God, in his Spirit, speaks to us in human terms so that we can understand him on our intellectual level.

In this book, “Understanding the Trinity,” I have taken God’s own Words in Hebrews 1:3, to declare and build on the oneness of God’s Person. The foundation and the whole premise of this book is not to limit God’s majesty but to declare the oneness of God in one Person. The full majesty and glory of God is in one Person - Jesus Christ – same Person - same God in both Spirit and Flesh (I Corinthians 10:4, Colossians 1:14-19, 2:9).

In conclusion, God speaks to us so that we can understand him in human terms. Therefore, when God speaks of himself as a Person; this Personage of God has the highest attributes and majesty of Jehovah himself. Certainly God doesn’t indicate that he is less than God when he calls himself a Person. We know as oneness Christians that God is not bringing himself down to our level. When God tells us that Jesus Christ is the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his Person. God is letting us know that this Person is who I am – One Person and One God.

God has always said in his Word that he is one Lord and one Person (Deuteronomy 6:4, Job 13:7-8, Luke 2:11, Hebrews 1:3). Therefore the Trinitarian Doctrine is not a Doctrine of God. The Trinitarian Doctrine is a doctrine of men (Colossians 2:8-10). It is a doctrine that is the total opposite of what God said about himself.

The Trinitarian doctrine is a figment of man’s imagination, not God’s. The Trinity is not true and it is a fable about the Deity of God and the oneness of his Person in the face of Jesus Christ (John 1:1-14, I Timothy 1:4, II Timothy 4:4, Titus 1:14, II Peter 1:16). God, based on his Word, doesn’t support a Trinitarian concept of three persons in one God (Isaiah 43:3, 10-11, 44:8, 45:15, 22-23, Philippians 2:6-11). God is a God of One, and not a God of three Persons, which is a form of tritheism or polytheism. True Christianity is strictly monotheistic.
