“The Power of God is in His Name”

My first questions are:

1. Do you believe the Bible?
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children

II Corinthians 13:5 Keep testing your faith

2. Do you Understand How to Be Born Again? (Acts 2:38, Romans 10:9)

3. Do you know how the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven were used? (Matthew 16:19)

4. Do you Understand the Trinity?

a. Who coined the term the Trinity (three persons)? Check one

1. Jesus Christ?__________
2. The Bible?____________
3. Tertullian?_______
4. The Apostle Paul?_______

b. Why was the Trinity or Trinitarian doctrine developed?

1. Who was Constantine?
a. Emperor Yes No

c. What is the History of the Trinitarian Doctrine?

1. Nicaean Council (325AD)
2. Council of Constantinople (381AD)

d. When and where was the Trinity started (Nicaea in Turkey) (started on May 20, 325AD, Agreed to on June 19, 325AD- adopted by all bishops except at least two (3) who didn’t sign).

5. What was the Trinitarian discussion?

a. The relationship between the Father and Son (1st) (2nd ) (325AD). The relationship of the Holy Ghost to God was formulated in 381AD.

b. What day would Easter (Christian Passover) be celebrated? Sunday

6. Who were the major players in developing the Trinitarian Doctrine?

1. Sabellius, Arius, Alexander/Deacon Athanasius (later Bishop of Alexandria). Number of Bishops 250-318, each bishop had 2 priests and 3 deacons = 1,500

7. There were Three type of Christians identified at the Nicaean Council

a. 1st position - Trinitarian Christians – The position of Alexander/Athanasius – Jesus and God was of the same substance. Trinitarian Christians believes in three persons in one God

b. 2nd Position - Ditheistic/Subordination/Binitarian Christians. The position of Arius – One God - not of the same substance. Ditheistic Christians believes in one Great God and one lessor or subordinate god. This was the Arian Controversy. Most of the bishops at the Nicaean Council thought that the teaching of Arius was heretical and dangerous to the salvation of souls. (Ditheistic Subordinate Christians believes that Jehovah is God and Jesus Christ is subordinate or less than Jehovah).

c. 3rd Position – The absolute Oneness of God – God changed himself into 3 modes, three forms, or three manifestations (modalist). Sabellius believes that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three manifestations of the same God. (Oneness Christians, Jews, and Muslims believe in the absolute oneness of God).

Note: The Nicene Council determined that any doctrine other than the Trinitarian Doctrine would be considered heresy. Even though the Trinitarian doctrine is a doctrine of men and is wrong, this erroneous thinking has continued to this day. Three Persons in one God is itself heresy, corrupt, and against the Word of God. The Trinity is not in the Bible. God has declared himself to be one Person, one God and one Lord (Job 13:6-8, Hebrews 1:3, Deuteronomy 6:4).

8. The Christian Doctrine in the New Testament
