(I Corintians 1:10-16, Acts 19:1-5, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:8-12)
When Paul started his teaching mission to the Gentiles, he came to Corinth and approved the baptism of Crispus and many of the Corinthians, who believed on the Lord. They baptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts 4:12).
We know Paul approved the baptism (Acts 19:1-5) of the Corinthians in Jesus name because that was the only way he had people baptized. For example, When Paul was traveling the upper
coasts of Ephesus he found 12 disciples of John and Apollos. Paul asked them if they had
received the Holy Ghost since they believed. The disciples hadn’t heard about the Holy Ghost.
Therefore, Paul asked them about their baptism because when the saints were taught about
salvation and receiving the Holy Spirit, they were taught to be baptized in Jesus name.
The disciples explained that they were baptized unto John’s baptism. Paul explained to the disciples that John baptized unto repentance and they should believe on the one who would come after John. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Let me ask you a question? Why would these disciples get baptized in Jesus name without giving reasons why they should not? The reason: They believed on the name of the Lord Jesus and got baptized in Jesus name without question because there is no other name whereby we are saved. Why are today’s Christians so critical about the Jesus name baptism? The reason is that the spirit of the anti-christ is in the world today and that spirit is against anything associated with Jesus name, including baptism in the name of the Lord.
According to Paul’s teachings we are to search the scriptures to find out whether Jesus is God and to understand that we should repent, be baptized in Jesus name, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Listen, Paul’s teaching is the same gospel that Peter preached on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:14-38). And this gospel of Jesus Christ is the same gospel that was taught to Apollos by Aquila and Priscilla who were disciples of Paul.
Today: You can learn “a more perfect way” through your personal research of the scriptures. You will also learn about the faith, actions, and teachings of the apostles as mentioned in the book of Acts. Use the King James version of the Bible as your primary reference.
We would have to search for ourselves to see if we are really teaching as Paul taught the Jews in the synagogues or are we teaching a doctrine based on the traditions of men? All Pastors, preachers, teachers, evangelist and scholars; should search the scriptures and follow the lead of Paul and Apollos and understand that there is “a more perfect way.”

People, in the Bible, who were baptized in Jesus Name
There is only one way to be baptized according to the word of God and that’s in the name of Jesus Christ. There are no recordings of people being baptized in the titles of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:19). Baptism in these titles doesn’t exist in the New Testament and is not used for salvation. Baptism in Jesus name is both scriptural and accurate (Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3, Ephesians 4:4-6, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:8-12).
In order to understand Matthew 28:19, you would have to know that Jesus Christ is the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. (Reference Acts 2:38, Colossians 2:9).
Research the following incidences of people who were baptized in Jesus name;
1. Baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus was demanded by Peter (Acts 2:38, 10:48 ).
2. Three thousand souls of Jerusalem were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for remission of sins (Acts 2:37, 38, 41).
3. Philip, Peter, and John Practiced baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus. The people of Samaria was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts 8:12,13,16).
4. The eunuch was baptized by Philip who believed in the Jesus name baptism (Acts 8:35-38).
5. Paul was baptized calling on the name of the Lord (Acts 9:18, 22:13-16).
6. Gentiles were baptized in the name of the Lord; Peter commanded that Cornelius and his whole household be baptized in the name of the Lord. (Acts 10:44-48; 11:15-17).
7. Lydia and her household were baptized in the presence of Paul who believed in the baptism in Jesus name (Acts 16:14,15).
8. Paul believed in the baptism in Jesus. Paul stressed to the Corinthians the importance of the baptism in Jesus name because he was crucified for them (I Corinthians1:13-17).
9. The Disciples were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus After the disciples were given a better understanding of the gospel, they were re-baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus by the direction of Paul (Acts 19:1-5).
10. Paul preached to the Romans to be baptized into Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-6).
11. Paul baptized others in Jesus name Crispus, Gaius and the household of Stephanas were baptized in Jesus name by Paul (I Corinthians 1:14-16).
12. The Galatians were baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:26, 27).
13. The Colossians were buried with Jesus Christ in baptism because of their faith in the operation of God (Colossians 2:12-14 - an example of “faith with works”). Now you can see how we are in a state of Apostasy because we don’t baptize in Jesus name. Paul warned us of this falling away from the faith (Galatians 1:6-12). “We have left the faith”
God is revealing to us in these last days that we have gone wrong and we must return to the faith of our fathers. If we don’t believe this gospel, we will fall into the outer darkness of our own traditions, philosophies and vain deceit of our own minds (Colossians 2:8-10).
To be saved by the water and the Spirit, one must take on the name of Jesus by baptism. There is no other name under heaven given to man whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Being baptized in the name of the Lord always follows belief in the name of Jesus Christ.
Listen, the scriptures can’t be any clearer than Paul’s instructions to the Colossians (Colossians 3:17). “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Folks, that means everything including baptism.
Again, don’t forget Moses. God told him to speak to the rock and Moses struck the rock. Moses didn’t follow God’s instructions precisely. Therefore, God would not allow him to go to the promised land. Would the Lord treat us any differently than he did Moses? Following the Lord’s commandments is extremely important. Let’s not miss Peter’s instructions in his first sermon (Acts 2:1-42). And let’s do everything in the name of the Lord including baptism (Colossians 3:17).
Now, let’s take a look at scriptures which verify that the baptism in Jesus name is correct. Luke 24:44-47. Jesus opened the apostles’ understanding. Look at verse 47, “And that repentance and remissions of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” This verifies baptism in Jesus name starting in Jerusalem, Acts 2:5-38.
In John 3:5, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man is born of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. This born again scripture was preached and verified in Acts 2:38. The water and the Spirit was first applied to the soul of man, by baptism in Jesus name, beginning at Jerusalem, Acts 1:4, 2:1-38. Romans 6:3-7. “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.” This verifies the baptisms, in Jesus name, in the book of Acts, beginning in Jerusalem, recorded in Acts 2:1-38. This also verifies God’s Word in I Peter 3:21. “The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Romans 12:5. “So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”
We are baptized into one body, by putting on the name of Christ through baptism in Jesus name beginning at Jerusalem (Acts 2:38, Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:8-12).
I Corinthians 1:13-15 says, “Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.” This scripture verifies that baptism is performed in the name of the person who was crucified for the saints. This verifies that the baptisms, in Jesus name, in the book of Acts are correct. This also verifies Peter’s instructions in Acts 2:38.
I Corinthians 12:12-13. “For as the body is one, and hath many members of that one body being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.” We are baptized in one body, in the name and Spirit of Jesus, beginning in Jerusalem, Acts 2:38.
Galatians 3:26-29. “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” This scripture verifies that we are to be baptized in Jesus name in order to receive the promise. This promise was spoken to us when Peter preached his first sermon. The promise was the redemptive power of the blood through the name of Jesus Christ (God) and the reception of his Holy Spirit beginning at Jerusalem, Acts 2:38-39, Joel 2:27-29.
All nationalities are free to enjoy the salvation of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Study to show that you are approved of God and that you are called according to his purpose.
Research the following scriptures for other examples of baptisms. Mark 16:15, 16, Acts 9:18, Acts 10:47-48, Acts 16:14, 15-31, 33, Acts 18:8, Acts 19:4-5. Believers know that there is only one baptism and that’s in Jesus name. There are not two baptisms, one in Matthew 28:19 and one in Acts 2:38. One must understand what Jesus said to understand the one baptism mentioned in Ephesians 4:4-5. When a believer reads a scripture about baptism, there is no question about how the baptism was to be performed.
*NOTE* For this is the true Gospel and the application of the death, burial, and resurrection of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. If anyone would try to go up to heaven any other way, they are a thief and a robber.
No man comes to the Father except through the door and the door is Jesus Christ. The only way that you will be able to come to the Father is by being baptized in Jesus name. You must come through the blood of Christ. It doesn’t matter who you are; a preacher, teacher, evangelist, apostle, prophet, whatever you are, we all have to go through the door. And that door (Jesus Christ) was opened by Peter with the “keys of the kingdom of heaven” (Acts 2:38).
When we follow the directions of Peter, we will find the door to Jesus Christ. If you are a preacher it’s your responsibility to spread the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
